* Campus Recreation has a Black Friday membership special. If you sign up for payroll deduction for spring 2017 today (Friday, Nov. 11) or Nov. 18, you can get the rest of 2016 for free.
* WSU is working with AACRAO Consulting on a strategic enrollment management (SEM) plan over the course of this year. The topic of the next SEM Workshop is Serving Students. * Come to SAC Family Day at Shocker Sports Grill & Lanes from 1-3 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 12) for cosmic bowling, billiards board games and other entertainment. Bring your family and be ready for a little family-friendly competition. Admission is free to WSU students with Shocker ID, $3 faculty/staff; $5 general admission and $1 for kids 12 and under.
* A celebration of life in memory of Bill Unrau, distinguished professor of History, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, at Park Villa, 1029 N. Bitting. Colleagues and friends can share their memories and stories of Bill, his work and his friendship in a casual, informal gathering. Unrau passed away on Oct. 4, at age 87, in Boulder, Colorado, where he had resided since retiring from WSU in 1996.
* Each year the current faculty is given the opportunity to nominate retired faculty for membership in the Academy for Effective Teaching. Seven new members will be inducted into the academy at a reception from 3-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, in the Armstrong Room, Marcus Welcome Center. You are invited to the reception honoring the inductees for their outstanding teaching careers at WSU. RSVP by Tuesday, Nov. 15, to janis.hudson@wichita.edu.

* Faculty and staff play an important role in helping students get the help they need to be successful in college. Consider taking a Mental Health First Aid workshop on Friday, Nov. 18. This is a free eight-hour course that teaches you how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.
