Largest Distinguished Scholarship Invitational ever

High school seniors gathered at Wichita State last month to compete for the two $60,000 Gore Scholarships. The competition grew by 121 students this year -- a nearly 32 percent increase -- for a total of 501 student competitors. Students from all over the country and Kansas competed, with 100 hailing from out-of-state and 84 from the Wichita USD 259 district. In all, more than 1,000 people visited campus on Saturday, Nov. 19, for the Distinguished Scholarship Invitational. Thanks to all faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members who volunteered their time to serve as observers. Special thanks to the Office of Financial Aid for spending the duration of the day with the admissions team.
