Reminders, deadlines and events

* The Department of Human Performance Studies invites you to its 13th Annual Chili Cook-off and Student Appreciation Day today (Thursday, Dec. 8) in the Heskett Center lobby. You can enjoy some chili if you bring a canned food item or $2 that will be donated to the Kansas Food Bank. Judging starts at 11 a.m., and general tasting begins at 11:30 a.m.

* Faculty and staff are invited to attend a come and go reception for Mary Herrin, vice president for Administration and Finance, from 2-4 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, Dec. 9) in 208 Morrison Hall. Remarks by President John Bardo will be made at 2:30 p.m. Herrin will retire on Dec. 31, after 43 years of service to Wichita State.

* Faculty and staff are invited to the President's Holiday Reception from 3-5 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, Dec. 9) in the Shirley Beggs Ballroom, third floor, RSC. Capture the occasion with a fun holiday photo in the photo booth. Photos will be made available for digital download after the event at wichita.edu/holidayreception.

* The Campus Post Office invites you to send a letter from Santa. Each letter costs $1.25, and it includes a special envelope with postage. The letter will be sent to Santa Claus, Indiana, for a special pictorial postmark and then sent to the address on the envelope. The last day to purchase the letters is Wednesday, Dec. 14. * The Office of Human Resources has two collection boxes for Toys for Tots. We are happy to support the Wichita branch of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Toys for Tots accepts only new unwrapped toys. If you would like to donate a toy, we are open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays. The box will be picked up tomorrow (Friday, Dec. 9).
