Wichita State to announce winners of Gore Scholarship on Thursday, Jan. 26
All finalists will receive competitive scholarship packages to attend WSU in the fall. The 11 finalists are:

- Mariana Cruz, Mill Valley High School, Shawnee, Kansas
- Abigail Faflick, Wichita High School East
- Matthew Miller, Blue Valley North High School
- Grace Rieke, Republic County High School
- Maribel Sanchez, Dodge City High School
- Liana Savage, Wichita High School East
- Nevin Subramanian, Union High School, Oklahoma
- William Valentine, Platte County High School, Missouri
- Cameron Vance, The Independent School
- Lee Vuong, Wichita High School Southeast
The students competed in DSI on Saturday, Nov. 19, with 501 total students competing -- the largest number of competitors in the history of the competition.
To be invited to compete in the invitational, students had to have a 27 or higher ACT score, or a 3.5 or higher GPA, or rank in the top 10 percent of their class. The 11 finalists this year have an average ACT score of 28 and average GPA of 3.84.
