Reminders, deadlines and events

* In celebration of Heart Health Month, Student Health Services and Dining Services will provide free blood pressure checks to students from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 1) in the Shocker Hall Dining Room.

* The LAS Advising Center will close at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 1) for staff development. The center will reopen at 8 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday, Feb. 2).

* Would you like to learn how to crochet with a purpose? Come relax, unwind and make a beanie for a preemie baby in one of our local Neonatal Intensive Care Units with Community Service Board from 5-6 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 1) in the Bluestem Lounge, first floor, RSC. All materials will be provided.

* Join the Society of Women Engineers for the first spring general meeting at 6 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 1) in Beggs Hall lobby. * Join Community Service Board as they assist Wichita youth in their education by volunteering through their series event, Tutoring Thursdays, at the Urban League of Kansas. Our first Tutoring Thursday is from 5-7 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday, Feb. 2). Volunteers may tutor students in the subjects of math, reading, history, spelling, science or English. * The WSU School of Music will host a faculty recital by Betul Soykan, professor of violin. The event, "From War to Peace," will begin at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday, Feb. 2) in Wiedemann Hall, featuring Soykan and guest pianist Juan Andrade performing Holocaust inspired sonatas by Ferguson, Messiaen and Prokofiev. Admission is free.

* A Social Justice Institute: Find Your Voice, will be held at noon Friday, Feb. 3, second floor, RSC. The Social Justice Institute will provide an opportunity for students to find their voices. This institute will examine oppression, power, privilege and how students can be the change they want to see. Registration is required at http://www.wichita.edu/sji

* ASC, BSU and HALO invite you to their Winter Formal from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, in the third floor Shirley Beggs Ballroom, RSC. Tickets will be sold for $8. * Currently enrolled WSU students are invited to Dine / Dress / Interview from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday or Thursday, Feb. 22 or 23, at the Wichita Country Club. At this dining and etiquette seminar, students will enjoy a delicious four-course meal provided by the Wichita Country Club, dining etiquette training, job interview etiquette training and a professional dress fashion show.
