Reminders, deadlines and events

* Members of the WSU community are invited to attend the public meetings for three subcommittees of the President's Budget Advisory Committee. The Priorities Subcommittee will meet from 9-10 a.m. today (Thursday, Feb. 9) in 265 RSC, and the Revenue Subcommittee will meet from 10-11 a.m. today (Thursday, Feb. 9) in 261 RSC. * Join the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) to hear Robert E. Weems, Jr., the Willard W. Garvey Distinguished Professor of Business History at Wichita State, discuss the rise and fall of black-owned businesses both locally and nationally. Weems will present, "Whatever Happened to Black Insurance Companies? The Decline and Disappearance of an African American Community Institution," at 6 p.m. today (Thursday, Feb. 9) in 208 Hubbard Hall.

* All faculty nominations for the two open Senator-at-Large seats are due tomorrow (Friday, Feb. 10). If you have questions, contact the Office of the Faculty Senate, at 978-3504.

* The Office of Research's monthly Institutional Review Board (IRB) Open Lab is at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, in 405 Jardine Hall. The lab is designed for researchers to discuss IRB forms and questions about proposed or current studies. For more information, contact Jana Henderson at 978-5313 or jana.henderson@wichita.edu.

* On Monday, Feb. 13, the city of Wichita will begin work on phase one of a major construction project that will expand the capacity of the 21st Street and Oliver intersection. Beginning Monday, both streets will be one lane in each direction. Left turns will be prohibited on all four approaches to the intersection.

* All faculty and instructors are invited to discuss the state of diversity in the WSU curriculum with Provost Tony Vizzini at a lunch from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, in 233 RSC. Please RSVP to janis.hudson@wichita.edu by Tuesday, Feb. 14, and share this invitation with other faculty whom you feel would be interested in attending.
