Reminders, deadlines and events
* The Shockers open their 2017 baseball season at Eck Stadium this weekend. WSU will host Utah Valley at 3 p.m. today (Friday, Feb. 17); 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18; and 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19. Students with a WSU ID can pick up a free ticket on the day of the games at the Eck Stadium Ticket Office.
* Join the Shocker Rowing team for Spirit Night from 5-9 p.m. today (Friday, Feb. 17) at Jason's Deli, 2000 N. Rock Road. Jason's Deli will donate 25 percent of what your organization brings in, so bring in the flier and hand it to the cashiers or show it on your smart phone. You can find the fliers at the Heskett Center, our website or on our social media.
* WSU's School of Performing Arts will present "House Beautiful," a play by Liz Maestri, winner of WSU's 2016 National Playwriting Competition. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?5384 for more information.
* A new apartment complex being built on WSU's Innovation Campus is now leasing and will be ready for residents to move in starting Aug. 1. The Flats at WSU will feature 112 apartment units, with full occupancy for 280 residents. Each apartment will be fully furnished, have a full bathroom with every bedroom, a full kitchen and laundry, and balconies for nearly all of the apartments. All utilities except electric are included. Other amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, private clubhouse and sand volleyball court. * Muslim Awareness Week is being hosted by Wichita State's Muslim Student Association (MSA) from Monday through Friday, Feb. 20-24. MSA believes that the events will help create dialogue and improve all participants' understanding of what Islam is all about while having fun. Look for the MSA tables from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday-Thursday in the RSC.
* Have you ever wondered what it may be like to live in poverty? From 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, in the RSC Shirley Beggs Ballroom, join Community Service Board as they bring the Community Action Poverty Simulation (CAPS) experience to Wichita State.
