Here's a warning to WSU international students, scholars and staff (F-1, J-1, H-1B Visa Holders) traveling abroad to renew visas -- you may experience delays of weeks and even a month or longer waiting for a visa renewal at a U.S. embassy while they wait for a Security Advisor Opinion (SAO) to clear you. Visa officers will likely request an SAO for anyone whose field of study is on the Technology Alert List. They cannot issue a visa until they receive it. Current SAO backlogs can result in extra long waiting times. No one can expedite this process.
