* Community Service Board is hosting a free Food Handler's Card class from 5:30-7 p.m. today (Thursday, March 2) in 142 RSC. This food handler course will take you through the fundamentals of food safety for your food handler training certificate. Pre-registration is recommended at http://www.wichita.edu/csbvolunteer
* The President's Distinguished Service Awards and the unclassified professionals' Wayne Carlisle Distinguished Service Award will be presented during the Shocker Pride Celebration Tuesday, March 14, in the Shirley Beggs Ballroom, third floor, RSC. There will be a reception to meet and greet the honorees at 3 p.m., followed by the awards presentation at 3:30 p.m. Respond to the Shocker Pride Celebration invitation and confirm attendance by Tuesday, March 7, at http://www.wichita.edu/j/?5401. * The University Bookstore is taking orders for faculty and staff who need regalia for Spring 2017 Commencement. The deadline to purchase custom regalia through the bookstore is 4 p.m. Friday, March 10. The deadline to rent regalia is 4 p.m. Friday, March 24. Call Julie at 978-7021 or email her at bookstore@wichita.edu to place your order or if you have any questions. You may also come by the bookstore between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday. Payment is due at the time you place your order. Orders placed after the deadline will incur additional shipping and handling charges.

* An SBIR / STTR Proposal Preparation workshop will be held from 8:15 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, March 10, in the Lucas Room, RSC. The cost is $20 for faculty / staff and $5 for students. The fee includes lunch. SBIR / STTR Phase 1 Proposal Preparation will be presented by Jim Greenwood with Greenwood Consulting Group Inc. * The Watkins Visiting Professorship Lecture Series in Biological Sciences will present Ellen T. Matloff, president and CEO of My Gene Counsel LLC, a digital health company that helps clinicians and consumers understand, track and use their genetic testing information. She will give a public lecture, "Women in the Biosciences," at 4 p.m. Monday, March 6, in 211 Hubbard Hall, and a scientific lecture, "Genetic Testing for Cancer: Who Should Consider," at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, in 211 Hubbard Hall.
