Media invited to WSU West Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Resource Center

WSU West is pleased to be able to partner with the Criminal Justice program and local law enforcement agencies to provide the WSU West Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Resource Center. Media are invited to the ribbon-cutting at 5:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, March 29) in Room 128 at WSU West, 3801 N. Walker Ave, Maize, Kansas. A small reception with light refreshments will be held in Room 127.

The space is for local law enforcement officers, students in the criminal justice and / or forensic science programs and faculty to use. It provides a safe space for officers to come in and complete reports / cases, along with a place to interact with students, faculty and community members in a more relaxed environment. This is in line with WSU West's commitment to student safety and educational opportunities for all learners from high school student guests to returning adult students.

This space offers a safe alternative to officers to complete their work, including reports / cases, verses sitting in their patrol vehicles and / or the nearest substation that is several miles away. This allows the officers / deputies to still be close to their beat and get their work done.

It allows students to have more engagement with law enforcement officers and keeps the resources within the area to service our citizens better. This partnership represents an extension of the relationship fostered in the development of the new law enforcement training center on WSU's main campus.
