Construction on Phase I of the Building Excellence for the Student-Athlete Project began this month by general contractor Martin K. Eby Construction Co. Phase I of the project, the Bombardier Learjet Indoor Practice Facility, includes about a 29,000-square-foot practice facility with artificial turf, full infield and retractable batting cages. The climate-controlled facility will be used during inclement weather by Shocker baseball, as well as Shocker softball, track and golf teams. It also will be used for conditioning and training activities by all 15 sport programs.
