Student Government Association and the WSU Police Department are partnering to create a campus community where its members feel safe. Through this partnership, Wichita State will promote community policing, proactively working to build even stronger relationships with students. The Wichita State Safety Assessment initiative will grant SGA and UPD the opportunity to address concerns related to safety and security on campus, including, but not limited to: lighting in parking lots, testing of emergency buttons, crime prevention strategies based on campus crime statistics, addressing dark areas on campus, etc. Addressing these areas of concern will contribute to WSU's strategic goal to use adaptive approaches, teamwork and positive risk-taking in order to create a campus culture that meets the needs of students. Sign up by 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at http://www.wichita.edu/j/?5504 if you're interested in contributing to this initiative.
