Reminders, deadlines and events
* Toronto-based artist Daryl Vocat will discuss recurring themes of sexuality, masculinity and subculture in both his practice and in the Ulrich Underground exhibition "The Secret of the Midnight Shadow," a fantastical world in which a pop-up book springs to life through manipulated and redrawn figures from Boy Scout illustrations. The artist talk will be held at 6 p.m. today (Friday, April 14) at the Ulrich Museum of Art in support of the exhibition. A reception will precede the talk at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free. The exhibition will be on view from April 15-Aug. 6.
* The Office of Diversity and Inclusion and Spectrum: LGBTQ & Allies are excited to announce Pride Prom from 8 p.m.-midnight today (Friday, April 14) in 233 RSC. Come to a safe and welcoming dance with a live DJ and light refreshments. This is a safe space and free event.
* The Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Human Resources and Counseling and Testing Center invite you to gender diversity training from 2:30-5 p.m. Monday, April 17, in 264 RSC. The goal is to clarify the understanding of issues related to gender minority / transgender people. Sign up for this training at wichita.edu/transgender.
* Student Health Services will offer free STI testing at our upcoming clinic from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, in 209 Ahlberg Hall. Students do not need an appointment to attend.
* The next aviailable Mental Health First Aid workshop is Friday, April 28. This is a free eight-hour course that teaches you how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Register at http://www.wichita.edu/MHFA.
