* Douglas Melton from the Kern Family Foundation will present "The Disobedient Engineer," from 1:30-2:30 p.m. today (Tuesday, April 25) in 261 RSC. There will be a 35-minute presentation followed by faculty discussion.
* Contractors and do-it-yourself home improvement enthusiasts ages 24-60 are needed to help the Software Usability Research Lab with a usability evaluation of a connected thermostat. If you are interested, please take a few minutes to take the screening survey at http://usabilitynews.org/sign-up/. If you qualify, you will be contacted by a representative of the Software Usability Research Lab to schedule a time to participate. Participants will earn a $100 debit card for one-and-a-half to two hours. * General counsel and the University Police Department invite you to attend the third and / or fourth open forums discussing conceal carry rules going into effect July 1, 2017. The forums will be held from 1:30-3:30 p.m. today (Tuesday, April 25) in 265 RSC, and 9-11 a.m. Thursday, April 27, in 265 RSC.
* University faculty awards will be presented during the spring general faculty meeting on Friday, May 5, in the Shirley Beggs Ballroom. There will be a reception at 2:30 p.m. with light refreshments to meet and greet the honorees. * Green Zone Training is available for faculty and staff who would like to learn more about working with military and veteran students. * The next Hiring Process class is scheduled for 9 a.m.-noon Thursday, April 27. This class covers the benefit-eligible hiring process, including completion of the search forms and the roles and responsibilities of the search chair, search committee member and hiring manager. It is a great learning tool for anyone who serves as a search chair, hiring manager, potential search chair member or administrative support. To register, go to myWSU and select myTraining.
