In addition to two NIAR researchers, three others from WSU have been appointed as Honorary Commanders of the 22nd Air Refueling Wing at McConnell Air Force Base. Connie Dietz, director of cooperative education and work-based learning; Bobby Gandu, director of undergraduate admissions; and Andrew Schlapp, executive director of government relations, were named incoming honorary commanders. Last week, WSU Today reported that John Tomblin, executive director of the National Institute for Aviation Research, and Christian Widener, a research scientist for NIAR's Advanced Joining & Processing Lab, were so honored.
