John Breazeale, who played a key role in bringing WSU into the state university system, died June 6. He was 83. Breazeale had taught physics and philosophy and other subjects. He also had served as chairman of the physics department, dean of the graduate school, vice president for academic affairs, and director of what is now the National Institute for Aviation Research.
