Wichita State University's School of Music hosts WSU Summer Orchestra

WSU's School of Music invites the public to attend the WSU Summer Orchestra's performance, featuring music by Rimsky-Korsakov, Copland and Barber, this June. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, in Miller Concert Hall, Duerksen Fine Arts Center. The Duerksen Box Office opens an hour before show time. The doors open 30 minutes before the show. Attendees should arrive early to avoid lines.

Evgeny Zvonnikov, associate concertmaster of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, will appear as a soloist performing passages in Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade." Zvonnikov has performed in many orchestras and instructed at multiple universities. He has also won second place in several international competitions.

The WSU Summer Orchestra is conducted by Mark Laycock. He holds the Ann Walenta Faculty of Distinction Endowed Professorship and was recognized with the WSU Excellence in Creative Activity Award in 2012.

General admission is $12, with $10 discount tickets available for seniors, faculty/staff and military or $6 tickets for children and students.
