Reminders, deadlines and events

* On July 1, the university exemption to the Kansas Personal and Family Protection Act expires, mandating that all state universities allow concealed carry of handguns and prohibit possession of other weapons and open carry of firearms. Safety is the No. 1 priority at Wichita State University, and our goal is to work together to ensure that the entire campus community has the tools necessary to understand the law and how to maintain responsibility and personal safety. * The University Bookstore will be closed for inventory today (Wednesday, June 28) through Friday, June 30. The bookstore will reopen at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 1.

* WSU faculty and staff are invited to attend a retirement reception for Sandy Lopez, research grant administrator for the Office of Research, from 2-3:30 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday June 29) in 265 RSC. Lopez has worked in the Office of Research since 2009 and has been at Wichita State for 27 years. The reception is a come-and-go event with remarks at 2:30 p.m.
