Reminders, deadlines and events
* On July 1, the university exemption to the Kansas Personal and Family Protection Act expires, mandating that all state universities allow concealed carry of handguns and prohibit possession of other weapons and open carry of firearms. Safety is the No. 1 priority at Wichita State, and our goal is to work together to ensure that the entire campus community has the tools necessary to understand the law and how to maintain responsibility and personal safety. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/thisis/wsunews/news/?nid=3705 for more information.
* The WSU 2017-18 Visitor Guides are now available. If you would like copies of the Visitor Guide, contact Stacy Grove, the mailroom manager in admissions, at stacy.grove@wichita.edu. If you would like more than 20 copies, you will need to pick them up at the Marcus Welcome Center. Requests of under 20 will be sent through campus mail. The Visitor Guide focuses on each academic college, admissions requirements, athletics, student life and features a campus map. This guide is a great resource to hand out to guests to your office or at any recruitment event.
* The 2017 Kansas Legislature approved a tax increase for 2017. The Kansas Department of Revenue has issued a press release and Notice 17-02 to provide information regarding the changes that have been implemented to tax rates and to the KS withholding rates as a result of the legislation that was passed. The changes include increased KS state tax withholding rates which means employees will see Kansas state tax withheld at a higher rate from all paychecks issued on or after July 1, 2017. Links to the documents from the Kansas Department of Revenue can be seen here: http://bit.ly/2thETzf. After reading this information, if you have any questions about your State of Kansas withholding, please contact the payroll office at 978-3074.
