National executives to speak at Kansas Economic Outlook Conference

Joseph Quinlan, managing director and head of market and thematic strategy for Global Wealth and Investment Management (GWIM), a division of Bank of America Corporation, and Carolyn Lee, executive director for The Manufacturing Institute, the nonprofit affiliate of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), will speak at the 38th annual Kansas Economic Outlook Conference hosted by Wichita State University's Center for Economic Development and Business Research. The event will be held from 7:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita.

Quinlan will present on the U.S. and global economies. He has appeared in numerous media outlets, including "Foreign Affairs," "The Wall Street Journal," "The New York Times," CNBC, Bloomberg television and PBS. Quinlan regularly debriefs policy makers and legislators on Capitol Hill on global trade and economic issues.

In his role at GWIM, Quinlan leads a team responsible for global market analysis and thematic research in support of Merrill Lynch Wealth Management and U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management asset allocation and portfolio construction. He provides economic and market insights, guiding overall investment strategy, both domestically and globally.

Lee will present the issues and trends within manufacturing. Her presentation will come just one day before Manufacturing Day, a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. In her role, Lee leads the Institute's workforce efforts to close the skills gap, and inspire all Americans, including the next generation and a focus on women, to enter America's manufacturing workforce. Prior to joining the Institute, she was Senior Director of Tax Policy at NAM beginning in 2011, where she was responsible for portions of NAM's tax portfolio including pass-through taxes, energy taxes and capital cost recovery.

In addition to these national speakers, Kenneth Kriz, Kansas Regents Distinguished Professor and director of the Kansas Public Finance Center at Wichita State University, will present on the state and local government outlook.
