Finances in Wu -- our orientation collaboration

The Office of Financial Aid has teamed with the Office for Student Money Managemtn for this year's Freshmen Orientation programs. Through the newly redesigned, interactive sessions, staff help students and guests understand how to build a college budget and meet expected expenses using colorful play balls and a cost-of-attendance tower.

During the sessions, staff provide students and guests with a "My Cost of Attendance at Wichita State" worksheet to help them plan for college expenses. After orientation, families are encouraged to discuss and outline a plan for meeting the specific costs. Students who complete the worksheet and meet with a Financial Aid or Student Money Management staff member are entered into a $250 scholarship drawing after each orientation.

Additionally, for Pell-grant-eligible students attending the May or June Extended Orientation programs, the Office of Financial Aid has provided scholarships to cover the additional costs for each student's overnight stay in Shocker Hall.
