Reminders, deadlines and events

* WSU has just signed a letter of intent with imageQUEST for copy equipment and maintenance to replace the current fleet in our departments, which is set to expire Oct. 31. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?5704 for more information.

* New 2+2 agreements between Wichita State University and Cowley Community College were signed last week. The partnership, which starts this fall semester, will create a pathway for engineering students to take two years of courses at Cowley Community College, earning an associate's degree, and finish with a four-year degree at Wichita State two years later.

* Wichita State's Environmental Finance Center (EFC) is offering a free workshop for faculty, staff and students interested in learning how to make their workplace, community or homes more environmentally sustainable from 1-4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at Marcus Welcome Center. Register online via EFC's event webpage at bit.ly/WSUEFCSMM

* Volunteer for B2SB (Back to School Bash) -- a staff run event featuring food, fun and prizes from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, in the RSC east courtyard. Helping out the night of B2SB is a great way to interact with students and welcome them back to campus. If you want to volunteer or help in any way, go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?5681 or contact sara.clifton@wichita.edu or 978-3022.

* The Wall Street Journal sent a reporter to Wichita recently to write about the problem of too few aviation workers in Wichita. The reporter found that Wichita State's Innovation Campus is helping the industry by providing engineers while they are still students. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?5705 to read the article. (The URL will work for anyone who is on campus or is current WSU faculty, staff or currently enrolled students.)

* Student Health Services has returned to its fall and spring semester hours this week. The hours are 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday.
