* Looking for a way to build a network with staff members in other departments? Bring your lunch to 264 RSC at noon today (Thursday, Aug. 17) and meet WSU's Young Shocker Professionals. Our purpose is to unite faculty and staff from across campus, make connections and have fun. There is no fee to join and no commitment. Just email ysp@wichita.edu to be added to the mailing list and start receiving news about all of the great things we are doing together.

* The 2017 fall semester Faculty and Staff Kickoff will be held from 3-4:30 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, Aug. 18) in the Shirley Beggs Ballroom, RSC. Hear from President Bardo about the issues and opportunities the university is facing this new academic year. Following the formal session, you're invited to share ideas and socialize while enjoying snacks. * The annual Volleyball 101 Dinner and Auction will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, in the AETNA Multipurpose Facility in Charles Koch Arena. The evening features dinner, silent and live auctions, games and interaction with the entire WSU volleyball team and coaches. Excitement is building as we move into our first year in the American Athletic Conference. Join us for this energetic and fun family event. Tickets are $40 each and can be purchased online or by calling 978-FANS (3267).

* The Center for Entrepreneurship and Cox Business present the Business Booster Series workshop, "Business Pitching: Knowing the Essentials to Grab Attention" by Teresa Wilkerson from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, on the second floor Devlin Hall Innovation Hub. This interactive workshop will teach you the basics of business pitching. The cost is $20 for faculty and staff and $10 for WSU students. Register at http://www.wichita.edu/businessbooster
