* A Cut H8 Launch Party will be held from 8-11 p.m. today (Friday, Aug. 25) in front of the RSC east patio.
* The city of Wichita will offer a free tennis clinic hosted by WSU tennis teams and coaches along with Wichita Park & Recreation staff tomorrow (Saturday, Aug. 26) at the newly resurfaced tennis courts in Fairmount Park, 1647 N. Yale Blvd. A session for kids 12 and under will be held from 9-10:30 a.m.; kids 13-18 from 10:30 a.m.-noon, followed by an adult clinic and WSU player exhibition at noon. * The Science Friday radio show is coming to Wichita for a night of stories about the science beneath our feet. Science Friday Live: Presented by KMUW is 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Orpheum Theatre. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at http://www.KMUW.org
* Alex Kanelakos will return to his alma mater to share his professional challenges and triumphs working in flight control and mission control in the lecture "Like Houston, We Had a Problem: A Current Shocker Flight Controller's Perspective," at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, in the Experiential Engineering Building. * Planning is underway for Academic Convocation at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, in Wilner Auditorium. Part of the program will contain a video of students engaged in applied learning. We are requesting faculty to submit photos of students from your courses who are participating in applied learning. Please submit your photos with an explanation of the course / activity to sara.clifton@wichita.edu by Friday, Sept. 1. * Wichita State participates in the State of Kansas State Self-Insurance Fund (SSIF) for work-related injuries. The state has just recently mandated a change to the program that will no longer permit Student Health Services to provide treatment to employees.
