The WSU Office of Research invites you to its first Research Workshop of this academic year. Plan to attend "The Anatomy of a Patent" workshop from noon-1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, in 405 Jardine Hall. This research workshop will be presented by Gael Tisack, director of Technology Evaluation and Industry Engagement, WSU Ventures. The workshop will be a brown bag event, so bring your lunch -- tea, water and dessert will be provided. The workshop will review the different sections of a patent and what they mean. Inventors should understand how to read an existing patent and compare it to their invention. Attendees will also learn how patent examiners view prior art and how to determine if a patent application is likely to be allowed.
