Reminders, deadlines and events

* The WSU Office of Research invites you to its first Research Workshop of this academic year. Plan to attend "The Anatomy of a Patent" workshop from noon-1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, in 405 Jardine Hall. The workshop will be a brown bag event, so bring your lunch -- tea, water and dessert will be provided. * With the increasing number of students from Texas attending WSU, it is possible that some of our students have been directly affected by the disaster in south Texas. * The Office of Student Success is hosting a Syllabus Party to help students with time management and organizing their class assignments and exams for the semester from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. today (Tuesday, Aug. 29) in 142 RSC.

* The Department of Geology will start a new seminar series from 12:15-1:15 p.m. Thursdays beginning Aug. 31, in 231 Hubbard Hall.

* Planning is underway for Academic Convocation at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, in Wilner Auditorium. Part of the program will contain a video of students engaged in applied learning. We are requesting faculty to submit photos of students from your courses who are participating in applied learning. Please submit your photos with an explanation of the course / activity to sara.clifton@wichita.edu by Friday, Sept. 1.
