* The Wichita State volleyball team will open the home portion of its schedule with two ranked opponents. The Shockers take on No. 8 Creighton at 7 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 15) and host No. 19 Iowa State at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17 in Charles Koch Arena. Friday night will feature a T-shirt giveaway and the 2016 MVC Championship and NCAA Tournament banner unveiling. Admission is free for all Wichita State students. Faculty and staff are eligible to receive a discount for single game tickets.
* As seen on America's Got Talent, hypnotist Chris Jones is not one to miss. Allow him to take you on a journey to invigorate and free your mind at 8 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 15) in the CAC Theater. Admission is free to WSU students with Shocker ID, $3 faculty / staff, $5 general admission and $1 for children 12 and under; cash and check only.
* AHINSA, Association of HINdu Students in America, invites faculty, staff and students to Garba Night at 7 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 16) in the RSC'S Shirley Beggs Ballroom. Admission is free.
* Soprano Cristina Castaldi and pianist Gene Philley will perform in a WSU Faculty Artist Series event at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, in Wiedemann Recital Hall. Admission is $12; free for students with a WSU ID. For tickets, go to http://www.wichita.edu/fineartsboxoffice or call 978-3233.
* Wichita State volunteers are requested for Open Streets ICT from noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, on Douglas Avenue from Glenn to Roosevelt. Volunteers are needed before, during and after the event. * University Libraries is hosting the workshop "What is Digital Literacy?" from 2-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, in 217 Ablah Library.
