Summer camps grow in popularity, success

There are openings for high school students in two camps being offered by the College of Engineering and Office of Continuing Education: Bio-Engineering Camp July 20-24 at North High School; and GameMaker July 27-31 at WSU. GameMaker allows students to learn video game design, programming and animation. Campers will use the free GameMaker programming language and unravel the mysteries of how games and other computer programs are written. For registration, contact jennifer.harry@wichita.edu.

The STEP into Science and Technology and Engineering Professions has become a popular camp for fourth-sixth grade girls. The students learned about the engineering designs and activities behind amusement park rides.

Last week, high school students participated in Bio-Engineering Camp. Some of the activities included composites, nanotechnology and laparoscopic surgery.

This week, middle school students are participating in LEGO Robotics Camp, where they learn to build and program robotics.
