* Student Health Services will be closed for professional development from 2-4 p.m. today (Wednesday, Sept. 13).

* Get your team ready to compete in Shocktoberfest, Wichita State's annual celebration of spirit and pride from Oct. 21-28. The first captain's meeting is 5:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, Sept. 13) in 245 RSC. * Celebrate Hispanic Independence Day with Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity and Hispanic American Leadership Organization and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday, Sept. 14) on the RSC east patio.

* SAC (Student Activities Council) presents mud events at noon Saturday, Sept. 23. This event is free to watch. Registration will start now through Thursday, Sept. 21. It will be $10 for a team of six for volleyball and $5 for a team of 10 for tug-o-war. Teams must preregister on IMleagues.com. There will be no refunds. Payment is due on the day of the event.

* Think you're the strongest in the Rec? Register today for Campus Recreation's power event on Sunday, Sept. 17, at the Guest Services desk in the Heskett Center.

* Average computer users age 18 and older are needed to help the Visual Perception Cognition (VPC) Lab at WSU with a focus group discussion of high-resolution computer monitors. If you are interested, take a few minutes to take the screening survey at http://www.wichita.edu/j/?5830.If you qualify, you will be contacted by a representative of the VPC lab to schedule a time to participate. Participants in the study can earn a $10 Starbucks gift card or eight SONA credits, if enrolled in a psychology course, for 90-120 minutes of their time. * AHINSA, Association of HINdu Students in America, invites you to Garba Night at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, in the RSC'S Shirley Beggs Ballroom. Admission is free. Garba is a traditional Indian dance form performed in the state of Gujarat, India. There will be awards for best dancer and best dressed male and female.

* Bring your families out for a fun-filled weekend Friday and Saturday, Sept. 29-30, at WSU. Family Weekend is our way of welcoming family and friends of WSU students to campus. A variety of activities and events have been planned to introduce your families to student life at Wichita State and to help your families become more familiar with the university.
