Staff restructuring continues Strategic Communications' proactive approach
Amy Easum has been promoted to director of creative services. Amy has proactively taken on additional responsibilities beyond her current level of expectation and has exemplified the university's core values through her leadership and collaborative approach to project management.
Amy focuses on coordination and project management for the Strategic Communication teams, as well as the management of the creative team and the expansion of the student graphic designers program. She will continue to accelerate this model in her new role.
Lainie Mazzullo has been promoted to assistant director of news and media relations. Strategic Communications has adopted a more deliberate and proactive approach to public relations, and Lainie has met the challenge by coordinating how we tell the university's story, collaborating with other campus communicators and planning public relations campaigns to support our university and college initiatives.
She has also taken on the role of the university's Freedom of Information Officer to support the general counsel office with Kansas Open Records Act inquiries.
Kelly Johnson has been hired as a video content developer. A WSU graduate, Kelly comes to us from the advertising firm Brothers and Co. He provided motion graphics, videography and video editing for local, regional and national advertising campaigns, including Fidelity Bank's "Bravely Onward" campaign and the Chung Report (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qPxT1wD1jA) video series.
Kelly will lend his substantial advertising and storytelling talents to produce video content for a range of Strategic Communication advertising and informational projects, including digital advertising, social media and the WSU website.
In addition to his duties with Strategic Communications, Kelly is teaching a media arts class at WSU's new Shocker Studios facility.
Sports journalist Paul Suellentrop is joining Wichita State as a senior communicator to provide comprehensive story, podcast and video coverage for GoShockers.com.
Paul's new role is a collaboration between WSU Athletics and Strategic Communications. He'll also be communicating about university topics such as applied learning and innovation.
Paul will start Monday, Sept. 25, as part of Strategic Communications staff, but will be located in Charles Koch Arena.
