* There will be a test of the ShockerAlert System around 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, to ensure that campuswide emergency communication channels are functioning properly. All faculty and staff are encouraged to register their cell phone numbers to receive ShockerAlert messages. * Wichita State alumnus Joel Mehler with Novetta Inc., will present "New Rules: How Cybersecurity Touches Everything, and How You Can Be Part of the Solution," at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, in 101 Geology Building.
* Wichita State volunteers are requested for Open Streets ICT from noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, on Douglas Avenue from Glenn to Roosevelt. Volunteers are needed before, during and after the event. * The Diversity Lecture Series keynote speaker Carmen Perez will present "Moment to Movement: An Intersectional Approach to Building Resistance and Community," at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, in Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free for students with a WSU ID, $3 for faculty and staff, $5 for community members and $1 for ages 12 and under. Tickets are available in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Tickets are nonrefundable.
* The Title IX Student Alliance presents the first Empowerment to Engagement Title IX Conference Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 25-26, at Wichita State, in the RSC. Admission is free. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Title IX, how it positively affects our campus community and how together we can take steps to continue to create a safer, more equitable and united Shocker community.
