Volunteers sought for Open Streets ICT event

Volunteers are requested for Open Streets ICT from noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, on Douglas Avenue from Glenn to Roosevelt. Volunteers are needed before, during and after the event. Shifts are from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m.; 2-5:30 p.m. and the entire event. Open Streets ICT is modeled after events in cities such as Atlanta and San Antonio. The idea is to close Douglas Street from Clifton Square to the Delano area for the afternoon of Sept. 24, and provide an opportunity for Wichita residents to recreate, converse and learn, while getting some exercise in the great outdoors. Marche-Fleming Randle, vice president for Diversity and Community Engagement will participate in the welcoming kick-off on behalf of Wichita State at noon. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?5866 for more information and to volunteer. Volunteers will be accepted through Friday, Sept. 22.
