Show your pride at the State of the American event today (Monday, Sept. 25)

Win money toward your philanthropy and celebrate the start of a new era during the State of The American event today (Monday, Sept. 25) at Charles Koch Arena. A tailgate party will begin at 5 p.m. on the Koch Arena lawn with live music, games and giveaways. The first 500 people who attend will also receive a commemorative Shocker medallion. At 6 p.m., the event will move inside to celebrate Wichita State joining the American Athletic Conference. Fans will be able to listen to comments from Mike Aresco, commissioner of the American Athletic Conference, and see the unveiling of the American banners.

WSU is looking for the student group with the most school spirit during the event. The top three student groups with the highest percentage of current WSU student members who attend will receive prizes. Group representatives must be present for the entire event and be able to present a valid WSU ID.

First and second place will be awarded $250 and $150, respectively, toward the philanthropy of their choosing and third place will be awarded a free pavilion at a Shocker baseball game.

Groups will be able to sign-in on the concourse of Koch Arena after the event concludes at 6:30 p.m. Be a part of history as the Shockers enter a new era.
