* WSU faculty and staff are invited to attend a retirement reception for Lois Bogdanovecz, accountant for the Payroll Office, from 2-4 p.m. today (Friday Sept. 29) at the Marcus Welcome Center, Clark / Armstrong / King Room. The reception is a come-and-go event with remarks at 3 p.m.

* The Office of Financial Operations, Payroll Department, will be closed from noon-5 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 29). All other departments in Financial Operations will be closed from 2-5 p.m.

* The WSU volleyball team hosts USF and UCF in Charles Koch Arena Friday, Sept. 29 and Sunday, Oct. 1. The Shockers take on the Bulls at 7 p.m. tonight and host the Knights at noon Sunday. Today (Friday, Sept. 29) will be free admission for all WSU faculty and staff with WSU ID, and there will be an American Athletic Conference inaugural season glass giveaway. The Oct. 1 match will feature the 2017 Volleyball schedule poster giveaway and post-game autographs. It is also Wichita Eagle Family Day, which features four tickets, four hot dogs, four bags of popcorn and four drinks for only $32.

* The WSU School of Performing Arts / Theatre presents "States of Happiness" by Josh Whedon, winner of the WSU Theatre Program's 2017 National Playwriting Competition. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 29) and Saturday, Sept. 30, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, in Welsbacher Theatre, Hughes Metropolitan Complex. * Want to try your hand at your very own Shocker-themed art? Spend the evening with Student Activities Council at 7 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 29) in 142 RSC, and learn how to paint your own unique WSU masterpiece.
