* We thank the 160 faculty, staff and students who participated in the recent focus groups to discuss Student-Focused Service Standards. These standards will support Strategic Enrollment Management and the fulfillment of university goals by delivering excellent service and creating a community of higher education in which we will all be proud. A feedback session will be held from 3:30-4 p.m. today (Thursday, Oct. 12) in 211 Hubbard Hall.
* The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is excited to announce the creation of a new LGBTQ student lounge and support space in 205 RSC. To celebrate, they will host an open house today (Thursday Oct. 12). The office will be open all day and refreshments will be provided from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with the students from Spectrum: LGBTQ & Allies.
* Claude Steele will present "Stereotype Threat: The Science of Diverse Community" at 6 p.m. today (Thursday, Oct. 12) in the CAC Theater. Join us for an insightful evening as Steele discusses the why, what and how of diverse-learning communities.
* Join the WSU Madrigal Singers and Women's Glee Club as they present their fall concert, featuring guest ensembles from Campus High School at 7:30 p.m. today (Thursday, Oct. 12) in Wiedemann Hall. For tickets, go to http://www.wichita.edu/fineartsboxoffice or call 978-3233.
* Today (Thursday, Oct. 12) is the deadline to submit questions for the Administrative Processes & Procedures Q&A session at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, in 211 Hubbard Hall. Submit questions to adminprocesses@wichita.edu. To register for this informative session, go to myWSU > myTraining.
* Campus departments -- bring out your creative side and decorate your door in the annual door decorating contest for Shocktoberfest 2017. Decorate your door using your best Shocker Pride and register at http://www.wichita.edu/shocktoberfest by Thursday, Oct. 19. Decorations should stay up for the week of Oct. 22. * Diedrick Brackens will present an artist talk "you will look back on this and smile" at 6 p.m. today (Thursday, Oct. 12) at the Ulrich Museum of Art. A reception will precede the talk at 5:30 p.m.
* The Housing and Residence Life central office will be closed tomorrow (Friday, Oct. 13) because of an office relocation from Fairmount Commons to The Flats. Staff will continue to be available at the front desks of both Shocker Hall and The Flats at WSU to assist student inquiries as needed. We apologize for any inconvenience, and will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16.
