College of Education Gets Link(ed)

Bobby Berry, clinical educator and Human Performance Lab manager, will serve as director of Link(ed). Link(ed) will be a hub for the College of Education, intended to facilitate and promote collaboration between the college and the community through service learning.

The vision of Link(ed) is to lead efforts toward a purpose-driven educational experience and to develop programming that prepares and inspires students to achieve their purpose and passion. This is accomplished by providing opportunities and diverse programming options for students to grow and experience collaborations within the community.

"We are excited to launch this new initiative," said Shirley Lefever, dean of the College of Education. "Our college programs focus on developing professionals who serve within communities, and Link(ed) will provide more opportunities for our faculty and students to be engaged in communities in ways that benefit everyone involved. We are fortunate to have Bobby Berry spearheading this effort, to which he brings much energy, great ideas and passion."

Berry joined WSU as full-time faculty in 2016, after serving as adjunct instructor for two years. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and brings many years of experience working with people of all ages, levels and backgrounds, including collegiate and professional athletes.

Berry received a bachelor's degree in exercise science and a Master of Education degree from Wichita State. Berry is well-versed in working with diverse populations, he received a grant from the Regional Institute of Aging for his work with older adults, and his work on college-aged students was published in "Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise," the journal of the American College of Sports Medicine.

Berry currently serves as a recruitment fellow for the university, is a member of the president's Diversity Council, newly appointed president of the African American Faculty and Staff Association (AAFSA). "I hope everyone will be collaborative in this effort and will be as excited and inspired as I am," said Berry.
