Artist Rodney McMillian to speak about his work and practice

An artist talk by Rodney McMillian will be held at 6:15 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, Oct. 17) in the CAC Theater. A reception preceding the talk will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Ulrich Museum of Art.

The work of Los Angeles-based artist Rodney McMillian explores the relationship between language, aesthetics and content. Defying an adherence to any single medium, McMillian's artistic practice uses performance, video, installation, sculpture and painting to tackle issues of race, gender and power within social history and culture. The talk is presented in support of the Ulrich exhibition, "looking at the overlooked," on view now to Dec. 10. Funding for this program is provided by the Kansas Humanities Council, a nonprofit cultural organization that connects communities with history, traditions and ideas to strengthen civic life.
