* The next Unclassified Professional Senate meeting will be held from 9-11 a.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, Oct. 17) in 200 Lindquist Hall. Meetings are open to all UP staff members. Meeting minutes are usually posted to the UP Senate website within two weeks at http://www.wichita.edu/upsenate
* University Libraries is hosting the workshop "Open Access and Scholarly Communication" from 2-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, in 217 Ablah Library. * Review the steps from conducting comprehensive research and synthesizing perspectives to effectively presenting your findings from 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, in 266 RSC, presented by the Graduate School and Ablah Library. * Grading for fall 2017 first eight-week courses is open. Faculty can access the Banner 9 grading form via the Teach / Advise tab in the myWSU portal. Grades for any class officially ending by Saturday, Oct. 14, can be entered during this grading period. Grades are due by 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19. A grading email with further details was sent to faculty and staff who are flagged as eligible instructors in Banner. Questions about grading can be directed to the Office of the Registrar at 978-3090.
* Campus departments -- bring out your creative side and decorate your door in the annual door decorating contest for Shocktoberfest 2017. Decorate your door using your best Shocker Pride and register at http://www.wichita.edu/shocktoberfest by Thursday, Oct. 19. Decorations should stay up for the week of Oct. 22. * The Unclassified Professional (UP) Senators want to hear from you. The UP Senate will host an open forum from 3:30-5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, in 265 RSC. The open forum will provide UP staff an opportunity to inform the Senate on employment issues they are experiencing and / or any initiatives they would like the Senate to consider. If you are unable to attend but have a question you wish to have brought forward, you may submit feedback via the UP Senate website at http://www.wichita.edu/upsenate
* WSU Fire / Safety and contractors are doing annual fire alarm testing and inspections of all building fire alarm systems now through November. Alarms and strobe lights may be activated for short periods of time during this testing in all areas of campus buildings.
