Reminders, deadlines, events and Shocker Blast

* The Office of Research invites you to improve your grant-writing skills at a brown bag workshop, "Writing Proposals & Responding to an RFP," from noon-1:30 p.m. today (Friday, Oct. 20) in 405 Jardine Hall. Registration is requested through myWSU myTraining.

* Understanding finance at WSU can be a challenge for budget officers and support staff. On Monday, Oct. 23, Lois Tatro will present WSU Finance 101. The agenda includes information on GU and RU funding, how to stay on top of departmental finances, processing revenue, expenses, Visa procurement cards and more. * An information session about Wichita State's Transition to Teaching program is being held from 2-3 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 21) in 156C Corbin Education Center. This session will provide college graduates who are interested in becoming middle or high school teachers information about alternative certification in Kansas and specifics about the WSU program

* WSU Ventures is pleased to announce the recipients of its annual Innovation Awards, which will be presented at a university-wide recognition ceremony at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, in Shirley Beggs Ballroom, RSC. * WSU Sport Management along with the Kansas Children's Service League is hosting the documentary, "Happy Valley," from 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, in 107 Devlin Hall. Join us for a free screening.

* Student Activities Council is recruiting organizations to participate in the Fall 2017 Finals Frenzy Week. Finals Frenzy takes place each semester during finals week to reduce stress through educational and entertaining programs.
