Alternative Spring Break 2018- Final information meeting and applications online

Alternative Spring Break will expose WSU students to complex social and cultural issues through community visits, experiential learning, direct service, group discussion, common readings and reflection activities. This trip and connected course explores social justice issues related to the service focus of the immersive service trip. A required three-credit-hour course will be offered in the spring 2018 semester. You're invited to the next information meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, in 256 RSC.

This year we will offer two different trips dedicated to service-learning with two different focuses. The first trip will head to Washington D.C., exploring hunger and homelessness in our nation's capital.

The second trip will travel to Catalina Island, California, focusing on human impact on the environment. Both trips will occur during WSU's Spring Break March 18-25.

Applications are available at http://www.wichita.edu/altbreak, and the presentations covered at the information meetings are also linked on the site. The final information meeting will cover the trip costs, logistics, details of the required course, fundraising, application and timeline in depth.

If you are unable to attend a meeting, questions can be directed to Chelsea Redger, assistant director, student involvement, at chelsea.redger@wichita.edu.
