WSU Opera Theater and WSU Symphony Orchestra to perform 'L 'Elisir d'Amore'

The Wichita State University Opera Theater and WSU Symphony Orchestra will perform "L 'Elisir d'Amore" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Saturday, Nov. 9 and 11, in Miller Concert Hall, Duerksen Fine Arts Center. "L 'Elisir d'Amore" combines romance and comedy with some of the most loved arias and ensembles in opera history.

Alan Held, American bass-baritone, associate professor of voice and director of opera, will direct the performance. He is recognized internationally as one of the leading singing actors today.

Mark Laycock, professor of music, will conduct the WSU Symphony Orchestra. He holds the Ann Walenta Faculty of Distinction Endowed Professorship and has been recognized with the WSU Excellence in Creative Activity Award and the College of Fine Arts Excellence in Teaching Award.
