Reminders, deadlines and events

* The Housing and Residence Life main offices have relocated from Fairmount Commons to The Flats at WSU. Faculty and staff are invited to an informal open house at The Flats from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. today (Thursday, Nov. 2). If you haven't toured The Flats yet, this is a great opportunity to view an apartment and the housing offices. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided.

* Join the Council for University Women (CUW) from 4:30-6:30 p.m. today (Thursday, Nov. 2) for a tasting of delicious wines, paired with unique hors d'oeuvres. Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and bid on purses at the silent auction. All auction proceeds benefit the CUW scholarship fund. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available. * WSU's Department of History presents Keona K. Ervin, assistant professor of history at the University of Missouri, at 7 p.m. today (Thursday, Nov. 2) in 209 Hubbard Hall. Ervin's talk will be "Gateway to Equality: Black Women and the Struggle for Economic Justice in St. Louis."

* The Safety Walk from 7:15-8:30 p.m. today (Thursday, Nov. 2) is hosted by SGA in partnership with the University Police Department and Counseling and Testing Center. The event will begin with a booth fair from 6-7 p.m. prior to the walk around campus to address safety concerns. Join us on the RSC patio for hot chocolate, baked goods, raffle prizes and a social hour with more than 10 recognized organizations on campus before the annual walk.

* Wichita State will officially unveil its new state-of-the-art professional production space -- Shocker Studios -- at an open house noon-5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at 3805 E. Harry St. All are welcome.

* The WSU AAUP chapter will hold its fall sectional meeting from 3:30-5 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, Nov. 3) in 207 RSC. All faculty are invited to attend with your colleagues for an informal exchange about current issues regarding changes in policies and procedures at WSU. * It has been the custom of the WSU Police Department to offer verbal warnings to drivers for traffic infractions on campus without real consequences for their bad driving habits. * All faculty and staff are invited to a Study Abroad information session at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, in 126 Clinton Hall, to learn more about programs available to students.
