Join the celebration of first-generation college students today (Wednesday, Nov. 8)

Wichita State University has joined the national celebration of first-generation college students (#celebratefirstgen) today (Wednesday, Nov. 8). First-generation students, faculty and staff are invited to an information fair from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the first floor, RSC. A photo-op will be available from 1:15-1:30 p.m. and there will be a reception from 1:30-2 p.m. in Pete's Place Lounge, RSC.

The term first-generation and the federal definition were introduced into the American lexicon by the TRIO community. The Council for Opportunity in Education is partnering with the American Association of Colleges & Universities and NASPA to bring attention to this group of university students and core participants by highlighting the achievements of this core group of students on the 52nd anniversary of the Higher Education Act where this term and definition were inserted into our history.
