Let creativity flourish in your life

Esteemed artist, editor and educator Sharon Louden will lead a creative living workshop on Friday, Nov. 17, at the Ulrich Museum of Art. This free event will teach students how they can cultivate and sustain creative professions through practical means.

Students will work with Louden from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. to answer the questions, "What does it mean to live and sustain a creative life and how is that achieved?" The event welcomes students across all disciplines and colleges to participate. The Ulrich Museum will provide free brown bag lunches to those who register in advance.

Artists are an integral part of Wichita's community, this workshop will help young creatives develop the skills that they need to be successful while continuing to make long-lasting, valuable contributions to our city.

Louden is touring the United States to educate and inspire visionaries using her books, "Living and Sustaining a Creative Life: Essays by 40 Working Artists" and "The Artist as Culture Producer: Living and Sustaining a Creative Life."

She will also guide a panel discussion and community workshop with visiting artists Chloe Bass, Courtney Fink, Alison Wong and Jayme McLellan from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Harvester Arts, 215 N. Washington, in Wichita. Harvester Arts will also host follow-up community workshops in response to the panel discussion at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18. These events support creatives and build bridges between micro-communities within the Wichita creative class.
