Wichita State University Theatre presents 'A Hedda Gabler' by Nigel O'Hearn
Newly married to academic George Tesman, aristocrat Hedda Gabler finds herself trapped in a life lacking in personal agency. Boredom and suffocating social conformity lead her toward the manipulation of the lives of others in an effort to become master of her fate; a desperate path that ends in destruction.
Playwright Nigel O'Hearn's contemporary translation / adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's 19th century masterpiece Hedda Gabler was a finalist at the 2012 International Ibsen Festival, National Theatre of Norway.
The cast includes theatre majors Jessica Curtiss (Hedda), Robert Stillwell (George Tesman), Mariah Clements (Mrs. Thea Elvsted), Trevor Brauser (Judge Brack), Christian James (Eilert Lovborg), and Nimrah Khan (Bertie).
The design team includes Associate Professor David Neville (Scenic and Lighting), Assistant Professor Catherine Wieck (Costumes) and theatre design students Mary White (Sound), Stephanie Crump (Properties), Payton Dickerson (Assistant Costume Designer).
A reception for playwright Nigel O'Hearn will be held in the Wilner Commons immediately following Saturday night's performance.
