WSU / Newman men's basketball game raised $45,000 for charity

Final accounting numbers are in for the recent men’s basketball exhibition between Wichita State and Newman University. After expenses, the event raised $45,000 for the American Red Cross to assist with hurricane and other disaster relief efforts.

"The generosity of Wichitans never ceases to amaze me," said WSU Director of Athletics Darron Boatright. "We're grateful to the 5,300-plus fans who showed up, on short notice, to cheer on the Shockers and Jets and support a very worthy cause."
