* Faculty, staff and graduate students in Communication Sciences & Disorders are invited to a retirement reception for Mary Beasley, clinic director, Evelyn Hendren Cassat Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, Dec. 13) in 132 Hughes Metropolitan Complex.

* The Office of Student Involvement is hosting the second of three candidates for assistant director of Student Involvement. Please join the office for the formal presentation by Aubrey Frazier of the University of West Florida from 10:30-11:15 a.m. today (Wednesday, Dec. 13) in 233 RSC. * Do you know current Wichita State students who love being Shockers and want to help recruit new students? We are currently hiring Shocker Navigators. The Navigators are a group of students who give campus tours to prospective students and their families. Interested students should log in to Handshake through the Career Development Center and complete the application by Sunday, Dec. 31. Questions? * Textbook Buyback starts this week at the University Bookstore! Bring in your gently-used textbooks now to Saturday, Dec. 16, during normal hours of operation to receive cash for your books. Rental books are due back by Tuesday, Dec. 19, with a late fee charged after that date. A valid Shocker ID is required for all buyback transactions.

* If you have news to share with students via the Shocker Blast email newsletter, the deadline for the last edition of the semester on Friday, Dec. 15, is noon tomorrow (Thursday, Dec. 14). Shocker Blast will be on break for the holidays and resume Friday, Jan. 12, before spring semester classes start on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Submit news and information for consideration to shockerblast@wichita.edu.

* The Human Performance Lab is offering 50 percent off DEXA scans to all WSU faculty and staff and Innovation Campus employees now to Friday, Dec. 15. For $50 you will receive a dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scan, also known as a bone density scan. This painless procedure is easily performed and exposes the patient to minimal radiation. * Final grading for fall 2017 courses is open. Faculty can access the Banner 9 grading form via the Teach / Advise tab in the myWSU portal. Grades for any fall course can be entered during this grading period. Grades are due by 10 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19. Questions about grading can be directed to the Office of the Registrar at 978-3090.
