On Saturday, Dec. 9, the Student Ambassador Society (SAS) hosted Gore Core, a celebratory event for the students who moved on as semifinalists in the DSI competition. Eighty-one students out of the 620 who competed in November were named semifinalists and 50 attended Gore Core. The students were able to get to know each other in Shocker Grill & Lanes over pizza and bowling. They spent part of the afternoon on a party bus that made stops at unique places in Wichita. During the stops, the students participated in a photo challenge. Those who were able to stay later in the afternoon headed back to Shocker Grill & Lanes for a Shocker watch party as our men's basketball team took on Oklahoma State.
From here, the semifinalists will be narrowed down to a group of 10-13 finalists. They will come back to campus in mid-January for their final interview, and ultimately, three will be named Gore Scholars with each being awarded a $60,000 scholarship to attend Wichita State in August 2018.
