Satisfactory academic progress appeals
1. Pace rate: Complete 67 percent of all attempted credit hours
2. Cumulative GPA: Minimum 2.00 required for undergraduates and 3.00 for graduates
3. Maximum time frame: Complete your course of study within 150 percent of the credit hours needed for your educational program.
After the first term in which a student does not complete the minimum Pace Rate and / or does not earn the minimum GPA, the student will be placed on financial aid warning. During the one-term warning period, a student may continue to receive financial aid. Students must achieve the required Pace Rate and / or GPA by the end of that next term or their financial aid will be suspended.
Students who did not meet all of the minimum requirements of SAP will be notified through a mailed letter that their financial aid has been suspended. If extenuating circumstances prevented a student from meeting the financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements, the student may appeal the suspension. The appeal application and instructions are available online at http://www.wichita.edu/sapappeal or from the Office of Financial Aid.
The appeal must be typed and include documentation of their extenuating circumstances. Students must design an academic plan with their academic advisor. This academic plan allows them to show they will successfully meet the conditions of their academic plan, even though they may still be below the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards. The academic plan ensures they will meet the required standards by a specific point in time.
