Jarman is named Kansas Health Foundation Distinguished Director of the Elliott School of Communication

Jeffrey Jarman has been designated the Kansas Health Foundation Distinguished Director of the Elliott School of Communication at Wichita State University.

The position, funded by an endowment from KHF, includes support for student activities in the Elliott School of Communication.

"One of my goals is to expand applied learning opportunities for ESC students at newspapers, ad agencies and production houses," said Jarman. "We will use the grant to fund local, regional and national internships for our students. We can also support a wide range of activities which could include student academic and creative research projects, travel to conferences, workshops or internships, or special projects and events for Elliott School student groups."

Jarman was recently named director of the ESC by Wichita State. His distinguished title is effective immediately.

"I am honored to hold this position," said Jarman. "The ESC is proud to continue our relationship with the Kansas Health Foundation. We share with them a commitment to improving civic health. For us, that includes training communication students who will promote, advertise and report on initiatives that enhance our community. The gift from the KHF will strengthen our ability to meet that goal."

"Dr. Jarman has a long and successful history as a member of the ESC," said Ron Matson, dean, Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. "I am pleased he has received recognition as the KHF distinguished chair. He is a fine, fine administrator and proven leader of the school."
